Exercises For Sciatica - What Your Doctor Doesn't Know

Why should you do exercises for sciatica relief instead of having surgery or taking anti- inflammatories and pain killers?

First, let’s make sure we understand the nature of sciatica. It's not a disease and in fact it's not even the problem itself...it's just a symptom! 

So, if sciatica is not the problem (and I know it sure feels like it is), then what is?

It's a structural problem (the alignment of the muscles and bones of your body). Let me explain... 

We all know that in a car that the wheels are designed to point in a certain direction (this is influenced by the position of the rest of the car structure). So when the wheels all point in the same direction as the car is pointing, the steering wheel sits in a neutral position, right?

Now if only one wheel pointed in a different direction, we'd know we were in for problems. The ride would be uncomfortable, the tires would wear, and the car would, in time begin to have a few creaks as nuts ‘n blots became loose.

So how do we fix the problem?

Well, lets say we started by changing the worn tires - it'd help make things a little more comfortable but very soon we'd know this wasn't working. Next we could go get better tires, oil a few of the creaks and tighten a few (now loose) nuts 'n bolts.

You don't need me to tell you that this isn't going to last much longer than before and you already know why...

It's because if we really want to fix the problem we have to look at the cause!

So, back to your sciatica…the pain is there because there is an imbalance in your body. The muscles and bones on one side are doing something different than the other side – not so good!

The great thing is that you can change that. You see muscles can be re-taught and bones, they’re moved by muscles, right?

You can probably see why drugs and surgery don’t work – they only look at the symptom. When you understand what the real problem is you can do something about it and not just get blinded by the symptoms.

Of course, you do need to find a solution that works. Just any old exercises probably won’t help, they may even do more damage than good, so it’s important that you are careful.
